Acupuncture for Pain Relief
Have you Got Pain?
Pain is not yours to keep.
Acupuncture, gentle and effective.
What Can You Expect?
Before we begin, I'll ask you to show me exactly where your pain is and what movements make it worse.
After inserting a few fine acupuncture needles, I'll often ask you to move again.
Many patients notice changes in movement or comfort during the treatment itself. For others, improvements occur over the hours or days that follow.
Everyone responds a little differently.
Rather than using the same set of acupuncture points for everyone with neck pain or sciatica, every treatment is chosen specifically for the person sitting in front of me.
“Your pain, your movement, your symptoms and your body are unique, so your treatment should be too.”
Why I Use Dr. Tan's Balance Method for Pain Relief
"How can putting needles in my hand help my sore back?"
Developed by the late Dr. Richard Teh-Fu Tan, this style of acupuncture is based on using the meridians which trace the body as a mapping system rather than needling the area that hurts.
Instead of placing needles directly into a painful shoulder, knee or back, I often use carefully selected points on the hands, feet, arms, legs or even the head to influence the affected area.
It actually means we can keep the affected area clear so we can monitor any kinds of change that happen on the table.
Gentle Treatment, Thoughtful Care
Because I will often incorporate points which will calm the mind, many people also find the treatment deeply relaxing.
It's not uncommon for patients to drift off to sleep once the needles are in.
A Modern Approach to an Ancient Medicine
Acupuncture has been used for centuries to help manage pain, and modern research suggests it may help some people with certain painful conditions.
Whether you're dealing with back pain, neck pain, headaches, shoulder pain, arthritis, sports injuries or persistent aches and pains, the aim is always the same:
Understand what's going on,
Tailor your treatment to you
Help you move more comfortably while supporting your overall wellbeing.
Acupuncture is a very powerful pain reliever. No matter if you have had the pain for 5 minutes or 25 years. The results can be immediate and long lasting.
Very fine metal needles are placed in particular spots on the body, which stimulates the brain to have influence on your perception of pain.
Add this in with mobility exercises, the correct supplementation, physio or chiro and you are really cooking with gas.
